KISUMU NEEDS HELP

KISUMU NEEDS HELP

Kisumu city in Kenya despite being known as place where the US President Barrack Obama route to his fathers home it has been known for violence since multi partism started in Kenya.Alot of people that are involved in this are young people who go out to the streets and create chaos, burn houses ,break supermarkets and loot everything that they can carry, block main roads, and even tries to burn police stations. Many times they do this to express their anger. Having being raised in Kisumu and lived in Nyawita slums which is 5 minutes away from Kondele which is well known for violence (recently during post election violence it was nicknamed new Darfur) Actually Nyawita is the planning zone and chaos is brought on the road side which is near the road. I have seen a lot of this even participated not through fighting but not caring of what is happening thinking that they are fighting and expressing their bitterness. Most of this youths who participate are the youths who don’t have the knowledge as I use to. I come to realize after participating on a peace building and conflict resolution training where come to know that there are some ways that we can can express our feelings without causing a lot of damages this is through non violence action.
The paining part of it is that violence has made us loose a lot of young people through death some as young as 10 yrs old who were innocently shot by stray bullets during this chaos and this happens everytime there is chaos in the country cause Kisumu will always participate. The country also goes at a very big loss cause the cities are burnt causing things worth millions to be destroyed, at this moment of violence there is insecurity because young and old women are raped including children.Kisumu youths need to be helped because Kisumu is a nice city with many resources and if violence will continue the city will not grow, the youths need trainings on peace building and be taught about nonviolence action and after that they need to participate in peace activities around the country will cause when I participated on peace caravan in North Eastern province I really learnt a lot after moving around 12 towns preaching peace.I hope you will think about this and give me a lot of replys on how we can help this city and this will help our nation.
